Elephant at Wat Phra Singh in Chiang Mai
One of the things I love about living in Thailand is its never-ending surprises. Like waking up to go to a temple in the morning and coming across an elephant…naturally.

Very interesting – did you ever figure out what the ceremony or celebration might have been for? My guess would be a wedding, based on the style of dress – but who knows? :)
No idea! There were a ton of people around the temple when I arrived and they all just disappeared as soon as the elephant left…walking down the street… Sometimes you’ll see guys walking an elephant down the street asking for money, but I’ve never seen them dressed up like this…? Just your typical morning in Thailand ;)
when i first arrived in Thailand I used to see elephants all the time on the streets. Although the should have been in the jungle, there was certainly a little part of me that liked seeing them. Especially with CD’s and bicycle lights hanging from their tale :)
