Other Good Stuff
The last time I was in Bangkok, I headed along the Chayo Praya River to the new Asiatique dining and shopping center (which feels like Downtown Disney, minus all the Mickey heads everywhere…). Since I don’t enjoy shopping or spending money in over-priced restaurants aimed at tourists, I didn’t really care for it. However, when I got back to Seattle in June and went down to the city’s waterfront it struck me how the new Seattle Great Wheel looked an awfully lot like the white Ferris wheel at Bangkok’s Asiatique.
The similarities didn’t stop at simply their appearance. Both attractions were opened up in the past year, both on waterfront property and they’re both about the same size – the Bangkok one is 60 meters tall while the Seattle Great Wheel is 53 meters.
What types of similarities have you noticed between different cities or countries?
