While living in Thailand is pretty wonderful, there are also a number of frustrating/confusing/un-logical things that you need to deal with. One is the differences dealing with the idea of time (‘on time’ is a loosely concept) No one ever seems to plan ahead (like at all), know what the heck is going on or when it’s happening. When you try to search for information, you often end up with at least three contradicting dates or times. This lack of info seems to be greatest around the Thai holiday of Loi Krathong (also spelled Loy Krathong). Often recognized by the magical floating sky lanterns, it’s a stunning celebration.
It’s also a bitch to find accurate information on, even if you live here.
In the next couple weeks I’ll be sharing more details and pictures about the like this:
But for now, I’ve gathered all the information I could that I believe is most accurate (at least at this very moment…). If some details seem vague, that’s because they are. Sorry. Also, if you have any information or advice about celebrating the holiday throughout the country please share in the comments below! Most of this information is geared toward Chiang Mai.
Will you be in Thailand for Loi Krathong this year? What are your plans?
