Other Good Stuff
I’m back in Chiang Mai. The place that stole my heart more than six years ago and where I’ve spent most my time these past four years.
Back to the land of palm trees and giant banana leaves that I love so much.
Back to where I’ve managed to actually make a little life despite not knowing what the heck I’m doing.
I never thought I would be here this long. I never thought Paper Planes would mainly be a blog about Chiang Mai and living as an expat. But I am and it is.
Since coming from the U.S. and a quick week in Bangkok I’ve been getting re-settled into my life here and literally riding around on my motorbike with a slight smirky smile like this because I’m so dang pleased to be back:
Every time I come to Thailand I get asked a variation of, “You still like it? Haven’t you seen everything?” to which I answer, “Obviously” and “Certainly not – have you even seen and done everything in the state or country you’re from?”.
There’s still so much here that I want to see, do and explore.
And I want to remember it all. And share it with you. And try to keep this whole living between places and making up my own job last as long as I can.
I’ve had friends from home staying with me since I’ve been back to town and being able to show them around and share my love for this place has conjured up so many ideas of what more I would love to do and what I want to share here on the site.
It’s also resulted in some pretty special photos of me in my adopted home – the perks of having friends who are professional photographers!
I guess what I’m saying is, I’m happy to be back and get ready for some fresh tips about where to go, what to see and what to do in Chiang Mai…
